ASHE COUNTY — The following accidents between Aug. 7 and Aug. 13 were reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and are considered public record.
An animal collision happened on Highway 16 near Old Field Creek Road in Grassy Creek. According to the narrative, Jeffery Dale Miller of Jefferson was traveling north when the vehicle struck a deer in the roadway.
Miller was uninjured.
The 2015 Freightliner had about $1,000 in damages but was considered drivable.
A two-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 about six miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Emma Ruth Enscore of Kernersville was traveling south when she attempted a left turn into a private driveway. A vehicle driven by Derrick Michael Millhaus of Deep Gap was traveling south and crossed the center line and struck Enscore’s vehicle.
Both drivers, a passenger, Kimberly Jones of Kernersville, and five youth passengers were uninjured.
Willhaus’ 1999 Honda had about $2,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.
Enscore’s 2016 Honda had about $5,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.
Willhaus was cited for a lane control violation and failure to reduce speed.
A single-vehicle vehicle accident happened on Nettle Knob Road about 2.5 miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Jarod Brantley Carlton of West Jefferson was traveling north when the vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the road to the left before striking an embankment.
Carlton and a passenger, Zubulon Drew Duvall of Fleetwood, were uninjured.
The 2001 Honda involved had an estimated $3,500 in damages and was not considered drivable.
Carlton was cited for driving left of center.
A single-vehicle accident happened on Highway 88 near Muddy Branch Road in Creston. According to the narrative, James Edward Osborne of Creston was traveling west when the vehicle ran off the road to the right to avoid a vehicle in his lane. The vehicle then came back on to the road and ran off the road to the left before striking an embankment and overturning.
Osborne was transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital.
The 2002 Subaru involved had approximately $4,500 in damages and was not considered drivable.
