JEFFERSON-A Sparta man was transported from the scene of a wreck near Ashe Park Friday afternoon after his truck crashed into a building.

That’s according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, who said a medical condition was probably to blame for the Nov. 11, accident.

According to North Carolina State Trooper Denny Parunak, Randall Williams, 60, of Sparta, was traveling north on Old-16 shortly after 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Ashe Park Road when he left the roadway to the right and careened into a building.

Ashe Medics and first responders on the scene removed Williams from his truck and transported him from the scene with injuries that were not considering life threatening, Parunak said.
