WEST JEFFERSON — The 2015 high school golf season got underway on Thursday for the Lady Husky golf team.

Ashe played host to Watauga at Mountain Aire Golf Course but came up just a bit short, falling by three strokes.

Lady Husky golfer Sarah Hardin, who qualified for the state championship tournament last season, had the best individual round of the day with a 41, three shots better than Watauga’s Mary Seramur and eight shots better than third place Victoria Shukis.

Alexis Howell shot a 53 for Ashe. Madison Osborne finished with a 55, Savannah Brooks had a 58 and Katie Orr finished with a 61 to round out Ashe’s round.

Heather Ostwalt (53), Morgan Critcher (55) and Katie Williams (62) were the three other scores for Watauga.

The Lady Huskies will hit the links again on Tuesday at Cross Creek Country Club in Mount Airy.
