SALISBURY — The top seeded Salisbury Hornets marched on in the 2A state playoffs with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Ashe County Huskies.
For the second game in a row, Ashe surrendered an early goal as Landon Goodman found the back of the net on a shot.
This time though, the Huskies were not able to rally back.
Salisbury took a 2-0 lead in the 34th minute with a penalty kick goal from Goodman.
Kevin Flores scored the third and final goal of the night with just four minutes left in the game to send the Hornets on to the third round.
Ashe saw its season come to an end with an overall record of 15-7-1.
Salisbury (24-0-2) will look to remain unbeaten when they host Central Academy of Technology and Arts in the third round of the 2A playoffs.
Wilkes Central and Starmount are both still alive in their respective brackets. Central hosts Monroe while Starmount will host the winner of Bishop McGuinness and North Moore in a match that will send one of those teams to the 1A West Regional Semifinals.
