GERMANY — Sixteen games into his rookie season, Tommy Spagnolo is not slowing down one bit.
The former Husky and App State Mountaineer scored 12 points, pulled down 12 rebounds and handed out three assists in his most recent game with ScanPlus Baskets Elchingen, an 89-80 loss to Dresden on Jan. 24.
Spagnolo played 31 minutes and was one of five double-figure scorers for Elchingen. Lorne Jackson led the team with 19, Brian Butler had 15, Kevin Wysocki had 12 and Filmore Beck finished with 11.
Before that, Spagnolo was limited by foul trouble in a matchup with Noerdlingen. He finished the game with four points, five assists and six rebounds in 23 minutes on the court.
So far this year, Elchingen has an overall record of 8-8.
Spagnolo is second on the team in points, averaging almost 14 points per game and is the top rebounder, registering nearly nine boards per contest. He is also shooting 56-percent from the floor, good enough for second on the team and has hit 72-percent of his free throws, the highest mark of any big man on the roster.
Elchingen has six more games left in the regular season with four of those coming on its home court. The team is currently fifth in the league standings.
