WEST JEFFERSON — Joseph Lowder struck out 15 North Wilkes hitters and the Huskies rallied from a 3-1 hole to beat North Wilkes, 6-3.
Lowder tossed a complete game, giving up three runs with two of those earned on four hits. The senior is now 3-1 on the season and has struck out 47 batters in 21 innings on the mound.
Ashe evened its Mountain Valley Athletic Conference record to 2-2 and moved to 5-4 overall.
The Huskies collected 11 hits on the afternoon with three of those coming from senior first baseman Kendall Richardson. Richardson also scored once and knocked in a run.
Bradley Richie was 2-for-3 at the plate with a homer and two runs knocked in. Lowder added a pair of hits to help his own cause. Garrett Miller, Turtle Windish, Ben Brown and Tate Hudler each added a hit.
The Huskies have three games coming up including a pair of MVAC matchups at home. Ashe will host West Wilkes on Tuesday, travel to Avery County on Wednesday and come back home to face Alleghany on Friday.
