Bulldogs start season 2-0

WARRENSVILLE — The Ashe County Middle School Bulldogs are off to a nice start early in the 2016 season.

ACMS has won each of the first two games and will have a showdown with Central Wilkes this Saturday at Ashe County High School.

In the Bulldogs’ season opener at Elkin, the team scored a 27-14 victory behind a strong defensive effort and running game. The Bulldog defense did not surrender any points as both Elkin scores were on special teams.

Offensively, Ashe tallied 240 yards of total offense.

Next up, the Bulldogs traveled to Sparta to take on Alleghany and cruised to a 33-8 win. Overall, Ashe had 135 yards on the ground and 119 passing yards.

On defense, the Bulldogs gave up just eight points and even scored a touchdown with Austin Poe intercepting a pass and returning it for a touchdown.

The clash with Central Wilkes on Saturday will start at 5 p.m.
