Tennis postseason awards released

WEST JEFFERSON — Ashe County placed all six of its seeded players on the tennis all-conference team after finishing with the second best record in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.

Caroline Current, Morgan Church, Anna Corley, Kaylie Fernandez, Anna Miller and MacKenzie Woods represented the Lady Huskies on the all-conference team.

Elkin and East Wilkes split the top award honors. Elkin’s Mattie Timmerman was named MVAC Player of the Year while East Wilkes head coach Aaron Simmons took home MVAC Coach of the Year honors.
