Despite playing soccer for the first time at the high school level, senior goal keeper Noah Blevins turned in an impressive season and was named as an MVAC All-Conference player.

WEST JEFFERSON — Fresh off of a second place finish in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference and another 2A state playoff appearance, the Ashe County Huskies saw five of its key players selected to the MVAC All-Conference team.

Senior midfielder Josh Brettschneider and senior goal keeper Noah Blevins, as well as junior forward Caleb Key, junior sweeper Daniel Lipscomb and sophomore striker Alec Roland were each picked for the honor.

Ashe also had two players named to the honorable mention list with senior forward Rolando Olvera and junior fullback Ben Brooks receiving that honor.

Starmount head coach Cody Cook was named MVAC Coach of the Year while one of his best players, Jayson Pineda, took home the award for MVAC Player of the Year.
